Old SUV’s Worth $$

Old SUV’s Worth $$

Old SUV’s Worth $$.  Now why would that be you might ask, well the video below goes thru the reasons why  while at the same time pointing out the good, and bad features that were common 30 plus years ago.
This video targets a 1980’s Toyota Landcruiser and a Jeep Grand Wagoneer, both very popular in their day, and still are.

If you were to have a Jeep Grand Wagoneer parked in your garage, it is original in very good condition you could expect it to fetch up to around $50 thousand.
So if you are lucky enough to have one look after it as once this price pattern is set very seldom will the price go back down.
Production went from 1962 to 1991 and was responsible for coining the name SUV, long before it became the standard description of all such vehicles.
The Grand Wagoneer was a full size luxury SUV with an impressive list of standard features, and in the mid 1980″s sold new for around $19,000.There was the ‘non – luxury’ version which sold for around $16,000 new but its sales were on the dismal side.
Plus there was their every popular pickup truck named the Gladiator.

Should you happen to have this model Toyota Landcruiser in the same condition then Doug DeMuro says it would sell for around $25 thousand to $35 thousand.
This model Landcruiser was produced from 1980 to 1997, was quite a rugged machine and popular especially in Australia, New Zealand, South America and Africa.
I owned one for 6 years and thundered around the country clocking up around 200,000 in it.  Was very reliable and apart from the regular items didn’t cause much grief.
The rear diff did develop  quite a whine but luckily the front and rear diff heads were interchangeable so swapped them around.  When in 4WD the diffs were locked so could only be used in 4WD off road and any noise from the front diff wasnt noticeable.

There you have it.  If you own one of these old SUV’s and even it needs a restoration it may be worthwhile getting on and doing it.
Back in the ’80’s and 90’s most SUV’s had their own distinctive look, style and personality.
Today, most of them particular European and Asian made all look like clones of each other.

These 2 SUV’s in the 1980’s were the leaders of the pack.  See why in the video.
