Jeeps Are For Fun

Jeeps Are For Fun

Jeeps Are For Fun, especially when you go to a Jeep junk yard armed with a few tools, new wheels and tires, battery along with other necessities to make a wreck mobile, and then drive it home.
Plus don’t forget a pocket of cash to buy the wreck, and I must admit I was surprised at the prices being mentioned.
Much higher than expected, but I guess this illustrates the popularity of Jeeps and some other 4×4’s remaining even when past their use by date.

Hats off to the Motor Trend Channel with their Dirt Every Day episodes following Fred and Dave as they get stuck into their next new project.
Once they completed getting this Jeep mobile they were out to show even old Jeeps are for fun as they whiz around the outback trails of California and up into the hills.
Come along for the ride,  there is great scenery, roads that sometimes don’t leave much if any room for error, and then end up down at the beach.
A couple of days that go to prove that Jeeps are for fun when you do it right.

The Jeep the guys chose for this project was a 1994 YJ with the 4 Litre 6 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual.
This engine has been a proven workhorse for what seems like forever, and although a bit thirsty it made up for that with its performance, long life and reliability.
In the deal made to buy this Jeep it was interesting the parts they agreed to remove to get the price down.
The junk yard owner wanted the doors, soft top and rear bumper because ‘these are in hot demand’.
Worth noting if you ever have a Jeep similar to this that you are going to wreck it would pay to check with a junk yard first what the going price is for the popular parts.
