Jeep Wagoneer 1972

Jeep Wagoneer 1972

Released just a week ago this video about a Jeep Wagoneer 1972 model, 1 owner all original with the 360 cub in V8 engine that had been laid up in a barn for the past 13 years.
Fred from Dirt Every Day bought it, gave it a good clean out, then after new oil, filters, fuel pump, battery, spark plugs and leads and a new set of tires it was ready to roll and go have some fun.
The Jeep only had 80,000 miles showing, its existing tires had been on it since 1978 so it’s not hard to work out from 1978 till 2013 when it was parked in the barn it was probably only doing around 1,000 miles or less per year.
In the video you will see Fred using his syphon hose,  I bought one of these when they first appeared  many years ago at a show and I would never part with it, are mighty and safe for syphoning gas or diesel.  Later I got into making wine so bought another for syphoning wine when racking it.  Mind you a mouthful of half ready wine tastes an awful lot better than fuel.

Going through this video no doubt the Jeep Wagoneer for its years was a nice looking mid size vehicle, and consequently it had quite a long production run from 1963 to 1993 via its different owners, the Kaiser Jeep Corporation, then AMC and finally Chrysler.
In fact it was the longest USA made production run of a vehicle on the same platform, being 29 years.
The later model Grand Wagoneer had a long list of equipment as standard rather than as extras, and while this pushed the price up into the luxury bracket it sold well gaining many repeat buyers.
Today lower mileage used Grand Wagoneers are still in demand with good ones selling for more than their original price when new.

This video takes you through the preparation Fred and Bruce did before firing the Jeep up,  then a trip up into the mountains and some deep snow.
The Jeep gets buried  but I think Fred might have done this accidentally on purpose so he could try out the winch.
If this isn’t of interest to you  the camera crew record some fantastic scenery footage that is certainly worth watching.

When it comes to snow the Wagoneer definitely isnt in Wrangler territory.

Special thanks to Dirt Every Day for this video, and Wikipedia for production details.
