1940 Willys Cabover Pt2

1940 Willys Cabover Pt2
Here is the 1940 Willys Cabover Pt 2, the follow on and final of the series of picture slide videos from the previous post on the building of the 1940 Willys Cabover.
This was quite a project with the end result being a fabulous and unique pickup that is now used to tow the owners trailer home.
If travelling any distance having a good tow vehicle is essential and on the surface this unit should fit all the criteria.
Perhaps sometime in the future we will get to see the complete unit.
Pt 8 More fabrication of panels, mostly the rear panel of the bed and the running boards.
Pt 9 Here we see the shaping of the inner panels for the bed, the trailer hitch and the dash takes shape.
Pt 10 Time for the door latches, the air intakes and the ducting for the air conditioning.
Pt 11 Now here is a good one – how to remove dents from the door handles. Plus the all important painting the body
Pt 12 An exhaust heat shield is considered essential and is fabricated and fitted.
The cab is insulated; this truck has a rather noisy diesel so quality insulation for both noise and heat
elimination is essential for comfort.
Color sanding and polishing the paint is underway, and the fender beading is put into place.
This 1940 Willys Cabover is starting to look real smart.
Pt 13 Exterior rear view mirror brackets and arms are hand made and suit the truck nicely.
Next is to duplicate some Willys emblems, and to ‘borrow’ a couple of Volkswagen bumpers for the front and rear.
Pt 14 At last its on the road and you will see a brief drive by. Listening to the diesel you will see what I meant
by my comment in Pt 12 that quality sound proofing is essential.
Those injectors sure put up a rattle, quite different to the quietness of many diesels available today.
Enjoy the walk around tour, you will appreciate the thought and planning that has gone into this 1940 Willys Cabover
and one-off project.
